At the beginning of my time at Santa Ana College, Mr Gagnier guided me through what classes I needed to take during community college to transfer to a 4-year university. Now I recently graduated from SAC with experience from internships because Mr. Gagnier emphasized looking for internships for experience and applying to as many as I can. Now I'm enrolling in CSULB and Mr. Gagnier has guided me in what I want to do after graduation. What career do I want to pursue with my degree? How do I achieve that goal? I was able to answer those questions quickly with his help. Now I am looking for more internships with Mr. Gagnier to help me gain experience.
Excellent counselor who goes above and beyond to support students. He is always approachable, creating a safe, where anybody feels comfortable sharing their concerns. Their thoughtful, compassionate guidance is different to each student's individual needs whether it's academic advice or personal financial problems. Before I started working with Mr.G I had no idea what to do! I got random classes that I didn't need. He was able to help me change my class schedule and get me in the right classes. I was lost and wasn't even sure if I would transfer this year or if the major I worked for was the best for me. I wasn't sure if I was going to transfer with an A.A., but with the help I got from here, I'm going to transfer to a CSU next fall with an A.A.T. in Economics. I felt lost before, and now I know what I'm working for and have a clear road to take. If you don't understand something, just ask and just hang in there if you feel like you're lost. Very helpful in keeping me on track, and keeps me motivated. We made a well thought out transfer plan with safe-guards/cushioning to transfer on time and not waste unnecessary years. I never knew how bad of a path my high school and college counselors had set me on until now. It's amazing to know how deeply he cares about my future and all the hard work he has put into helping me.
